How Much is that Dolly in the Window?
A contact print holds clues and offers a preview of a larger print. They are a heads up for any potential issues not picked up by holding the negative up to the light.
Before moving onto a larger print I will start with a contact print. Exposed with flat contrast they have that soft, soot-like look I crave. They hint details in shadows and highlights and steer me to decisions on contrast and any potential dodging and burning.
They are small and as mounted and framed prints they are perfect when wall space is limited.
