Man in Alleyway

I walked around the city for a few hours, watching the post Christmas crowds gradually gather build. People walked about as though they had somewhere to go, a place to be or bargain to grab.

I’m scouting possible locations. Dark alleyways and incredible buildings full of character and history and waited for someone I could pick out and place.

Sometimes an image intrigues me and entices me in to explore the soft dull light and rich tones of soot greys and blacks. From the moment I first took in the scene and captured it on film through to the darkroom where I am able to coax out the light and darkness of the original scene from the negative and immortalise it on paper.
